We just love this restaurant in Island Park it was out of this world food We split their beer battered fish and chips and they were absolutely amazing The restaurant was very busy when we came you cannot make reservations but we only had to wait about 20 minutes and it was very well worth the wait. The two waiters there did a fantastic job. Food and drinks are reasonable and very very good The huckleberry cheesecake for dessert was to die for

Note: The Yelp navigation map is wrong. It shows the restaurant .6 miles further down the Yale-Kilgore road. We came to Boondocks a year later, and find it just as good as before. The Coconut Shrimp basket is a winner. They are the most coconut-flavored I have ever tasted. Again, come early - 5:00 is best to get a table. We watched many turn away, unable to be seated later, and that on a Wednesday night!

Boondocks came highly recommended and is in a great location for where we are staying in Island Park. We came for the sweet rolls yesterday but they had sold out. They allowed us to reserve sweet rolls for today. We ordered the fish and chip and the huckleberry cheesecake as an appetizer. Both were delicious! I ordered The Cure. The ham, fried egg, onion rings burger. It would have been better if the egg had a runny yolk. I wish we would have come to Boondocks earlier in our trip so we could come back.

My sister and I, and our families, decided to do a family vacation this summer and spent the middle of June is Island Park, ID. We stopped into Boondocks not having a clue what we were going to get. It was hands down the best meal we had on this trip. The Thai salad was amazing, my husband loved his ribs. My kids had burgers that they ate all of. We sat outside on the front porch and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. And a couple of mornings later, my husband popped in for 8 of their famous cinnamon rolls. They were fresh out of the oven, the size of our heads, and absolutely delicious! They kept us fed all the way back to Vegas.

CHECK THEIR HOURS AND DAYS! We tried many times to come here and we're finally successful on the 4th try. CINNAMON ROLLS are amazing but they're so popular if you don't get them right out of the oven at 12:00 ish then you'll have to reserve some for the next day (yes they let you do that) - Thai Sakad was the most beautiful thing I've every eaten. Gorgeously presented. Their huckleberry cheesecake wasn't bad either. Beer battered fish is the best beer battered thing I've ever had! So crispy and flavorful. I was disappointed I didn't get to try their buffalo burger - it looked really good but they were out of stock. Amazing place!

Great spot, easy and casual. In three nights here never had a bad meal. Grab a cinnamon bun if you see one! Best part was a bumper sticker on the wall from a clam shack 2300 miles away that I happen to live near.

Best place to eat in Island Park! Atmosphere is great and the food is really good. Best burgers in the area. So glad we found it! There was a thunder and lightning storm when we were there and we ate outside on their porch, it was very nice! Also, the Fish and Chips were GREAT!!

Boondocks is fantastic. I've become a creature of habit getting the trout or the best salad in Idaho: the Thai Chicken (go figure). For those who wish for more veggies in Idaho the daily vegetable and salads (with homemade dressings) are a nice relief from other options. The steaks are always very good and great value. I haven't tried the calzones... Always wanted to... Guess I will have to come back

Soooo gooood! The only bad thing about this restaurant is that we discovered it a day before we go back home. My wife had the Thai chicken salad which was delicious, I had the turkey sandwich and it was simple but delicious. My daughter had a meatball calzone and that was also great. Everything we ordered was fresh and good. I would really recommend this place. The staff was friendly and polite and I will certainly be back next summer.

Boondocks is such a wonderful family restaurant. The chef/owner, along with his lovely wife/owner have built this into a true Island Park gem. The atmosphere is so inviting. The food is delicious. I wish I could go there more often! It is a must if you visit the Island Park area.

This was by far the best food we had from a restaurant on our family trip from San Diego to Jackson Hole to Yellowstone. Every item we ordered was superb. This was hands down the best cinnamon roll ever!! If you are any where close to this restaurant you have to stop in. Unbelievably great food for such a small place in the middle of the boondocks! ;).

A great option for those in the Island Park area. Chicken fried chicken was good (though the country gravy was bland), and others enjoyed fish 'n chips. Scratch salad dressings - blue particularly good. If you like super sweet stuff you might enjoy the giant cinnamon rolls. A friendly staff, reasonable prices and casual vibe. Be forewarned...they only take cash and don't do reservations.

Just a great local restaurant with food that is outstanding. Not a formal place, just a fun place were you and your children will have a great meal. Pat and the staff will do their best to make sure everything is as you've ordered. Go in, order, relax and enjoy a fine meal.

The food was AMAZING! We ordered the steak, fish and chips, and cheese steak. The twice baked potato was to die for. Don't forget the homemade cheesecake!! You will not be disappointed by anything. Friendliest owners. Couldn't have asked for a better dining experience.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is perfect. Our horse ride guide told us about this place. We had the Million Dollar Salad ($9), popcorn shrimp ($6) and $2 homemade lemonade with free refills! You HAVE to eat here. It is so worth the drive if you're in West Yellowstone!

Located in beautiful Island Park this out of the way eatery is a hidden gem. Menu is outstanding and has everything from salads, burgers, steak, ribs and a couple of surprises. Those of us that live in the area really appreciate having such an exceptional restaurant in our area. Out of the way but worth the trip. The food quality is exceptional and well done by Pat and Nancy. Had the pleasure this year of meeting their super children. Want a great meal during the season make sure you set your GPS for Boondocks.

We came here on a recommendation of my Aunt and Uncle, who live in Island Park and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant has a homey charm, and stories to back all the decorations. I had the clam chowder, followed by the top sirloin, which was cooked perfectly, and is one of the best steaks I've had in recent memory. My Mother and Aunt had the pork ribs, which were extremely tender and delicious. My Uncle really enjoyed seafood crêpes. I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in town!

DO NOT GO TO..ordered a steak for an anniversary dinner. It came out overcooked. Chef recooked it and threw it at us while yelling that the last one was fine. We ordered med and it was med well and parts were well done. We were then told that we were not welcome to come back. Poor family business that really doesn't care about their customers or their customer service. We were two adults and three young kids. I would NOT recommend if you know anything about a decently cooked steak.

Pretty pricy, but very good food. The calzones are quite big, good, but a little dry. Fish and chips were small-portioned and could've been a bit better. Good food, but not worth the price in my opinion.

Great food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. We had the mini potato pancakes for an appetizer, then the fish & chips and trout w/ shrimp topping.

Ate here every opportunity while staying at our cabin (Eagle Ridge) right down the road. The food and service are fantastic! They are not open for breakfast, but they do sell HUGE cinnamon rolls during the day - I highly recommend buying one and taking it with you. The menu consists of largely American fare - I had a Buffalo burger and a steak sandwich, both were excellent. I am planning to come back to the area, having fallen in love with it on vacation in 2011. Boondocks is a large part of that. It's a must-go.

We stopped for lunch today, and really enjoyed the food. Our party especially liked the hot chicken sandwiches and the fish and chips. We had really great service from our friendly servers and enjoyed a nice summer day on their front porch. I will definitely return.

My family has a cabin in IP and although we've been going for about 5 years we had not yet made it to Boondocks. Luckily we went this time and it was great! You have to love that they only accept cash or check. Yes check!! The dining area is small and clean and the front porch area is great, this is where we sat. I had the halibut which is why Boondocks is getting a 4 star review instead of 5. I should have ordered the steak, but I was trying to be good. On vacation. Who does this? The halibut was a bit dry. The avocado topping was good, but the fish...meh. I also found quite a few bones. So, unsure if this was a mistake on my part for ordering or just not a good fish night for old Boondocks. But, the hubs had the rib-eye with mushrooms, onions and shrimp, it was dee-lish! Parents had the sirloin and the ribs. The ribs were freaking awesome and the bbq sauce was SO good; the meat was falling off of the bone on those puppies. YUM. I see another review that says its pricey. I disagree. Every meal comes with a soup or salad, a delicious roll (baked in house), plus your choice of side (if memory serves: mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, potato pancakes, fries and/or something else?). The mashed potatoes and gravy were awesome, country gravy, yum. They were out of cinnamon rolls and huckleberry cheesecake so we'll have to go back next year. Also, mom says their portobello mushroom sandwich is to die for, so yet another reason to return.

Great menu. Had the cheese steak: WONDERFUL. Iced tea was homemade with a special lemon "wedge". Beautiful location and decor. I agree, adorable servers...nice and helpful. Will go back often when we are in IP. Don't forget to get a cinnamon roll!!!

Stopped into Boondocks today for a late lunch. I have eaten there before but don't remember being as impressed with my lunch then as I was today. I ordered the veggie portobello sandwich. It was a grilled portobello mushroom with grilled onions and green peppers. It also had a generous portion of avocado topped with a tangy chipotle sauce. It was served on a fresh sesame bun and a side of hot steak fries seasoned with sea salt and cracked pepper. Soooooo good!! The best portobello mushroom I have EVER had! This place is definitely worth a visit.

Feels like your grandma's home cooking but only better. Prime rib was amazing. Options for vegetarian wife and kids were excellent as well. They make fresh pastries that I was dying to try, a cinnamon roll the size of my head, but they sold out before I could order. CASH ONLY.

Definitely impressed by this local restaurant. Coming from out of town we were looking for a GOOD meal, and Boondocks delivered. Delicious gravy, crisp salads, juicy sandwiches, and savory twice baked potatoes. A great family atmosphere, good prices, and remarkable food. Do not overlook this hidden gem.

We were camping in a tent for one night on the way to yellowstone and a thunderstorm rolled in. A friend looked at Yelp and found this place! It was perfect. Good food, good service, and they even had wine! It was perfect! We'll def be back!

Night 2 - back to Boondocks again. Perfect rib-eye - medium rare as ordered. Everyone in the family was happy with their meal. We were stuffed, but buckled down and shared huckleberry cheesecake and a cinnamon roll. Both homemade and delicious.

We had a great meal and great service! I had the fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes and gravy with a glass of cab. Wonderful! Wife had jumbo shrimp on saffron rice with zucchini and peppers which she says was delicious. The three cheese Lasagna perfect, a wonderful place to eat in the middle of nowhere. Thanks Pat & Nancy!

We look forward to eating here every summer. Great kids meals. We adults all had the sirloin steak, and loved them. Great cut of meat for a reasonable price (12.95). The salad and sides were fabulous too. You can tell everything is made in house and they don't cut corners. Sadly we were so full we didn't have room for the huckleberry cheesecake, but I imagine it would have been great too! Well worth the trip out to the Boondocks!
